The annual Sophomore Honors Dinner, hosted by the Hobart Deans Office, was held on Tuesday evening, Feb. 11, in the Common Room of the Scandling Center. As part of the tradition of Hobart College, members of the Class of 2005 were recognized for their outstanding academic achievement.
Following the dinner, four Hobart students from the Class of 2004 related stories from their successful experiences while studying off-campus last semester. David Costello (biology/Barber, N.Y.), David Powell (international relations/Edina, Minn.), Alexander Rosso (English/Glastonbury, Conn.), and B. Mackenzie Small (economics/Pennington,N.J.) described their participation in the Queensland (Australia), Vietnam, Galway (Ireland), and Copenhagen (Denmark) programs, respectively. Thomas DAgostino, director of the Center for Global Education, introduced the four student speakers and discussed the role of the Center for Global Education.
A similar heritage dinner, honoring first-year Hobart students for their academic success, was hosted by the Deans Office at Bampton House on Jan. 28. Bampton House (720 S. Main St.), named in honor of Mr. James Bampton 32 is the honors and leadership house for students of Hobart College.
