Students Give HWS Counseling Center Positive Reviews
2 December 2003 Students Give HWS Counseling Center Positive Reviews
The Counseling Center recently encouraged their student clients to complete an anonymous survey evaluating the center's services. In rating how enthusiastic they would be about recommending the center to fellow students, 43 percent of the students surveyed indicated that they would be extremely enthusiastic, 39 percent indicated very much, and the balance (15 percent) indicated moderately (no students indicated that they would be a little or not at all enthusiastic). In rating how satisfied overall they were with the center's services, all of the students indicated that they were at least moderately satisfied, and 18 percent of the students indicated that they were extremely satisfied. More than one-third of the students indicated that the services they received were extremely helpful to them in remaining enrolled in school, and many students indicated that the services helped them maintain or improve their academic performance.
The Counseling Center is located in Hubbs Health Center, and offers free, confidential services to students. Last year, 13 percent of HWS students attended counseling sessions at the center. The easiest way for students to access services is by coming during the center's first-come first-serve walk-in hours, weekdays between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. During these brief walk-in sessions, a counselor meets individually with students, assesses their concerns, and arranges for ongoing counseling sessions as needed. Students may also arrange for an appointment by calling ext. 3600.
