22 February 2002 Reynold Levy '66 May Be New President of the Lincoln Center

Reynold Levy 66 has been recommended to become the new president of the Lincoln Center, according to the Feb. 26 New York Times story Head of Refugee Group Picked to Fill Post at Lincoln Center. A special meeting of the full board has been called for Thursday, Feb. 28, when Levy is expected to be approved.

According to the February 21 New York Times story Two Lead in Search for New Lincoln Center Chief, Reynold Levy 66 was one of two candidates (the other was Joseph W. Polisi, president of the Juilliard School for 18 years) for president of Lincoln Center. The decision is particularly important for the performing arts center because it is embarking on a $1.2 billion redevelopment plan. The two men were among more than a dozen candidates considered by a search committee that will submit its choice to the center's board for approval. Levy is currently head of the International Rescue Committee, one of the world's largest refugee relief organizations, and former president of the AT&T Foundation.
