Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Foxwoods Resort Casino
Rebecca Groves Carr has more than 25 years of experience marketing some of the world's largest and most prestigious brands. As senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Foxwoods Resort Casino, she plays a key role in shaping the casino's brand identity as the company competes for both consumer and corporate business in the Northeast and beyond. Foxwoods is North America's largest casino located at the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Reservation in southeastern Connecticut.
As chief marketing officer, Carr is responsible for all aspects of marketing and communications including strategy, competitive intelligence, advertising, brand, segmentation, direct marketing, interactive (web) and social media, events, promotions, loyalty programs, sponsorships and public relations.
Prior to joining Foxwoods, Carr served as vice president of global marketing at Verizon Business where she led the company's marketing initiatives targeted to national and multi-national businesses. She successfully transformed its brand from a commodity to a solutions provider, increased customer loyalty and achieved double digit growth in key strategic services. Under her leadership, Verizon Business grew its global market share and elevated its perception in the market.
Before joining Verizon, Carr spent 17 years at MCI Communications where she began as a global account manager selling multi-million dollar technology solutions to Fortune 100 businesses. She moved into marketing in 1997, holding leadership positions from product to e-business development to field and market management. From 2003 to 2006, Carr served as the vice president of marketing, responsible for brand, communications, segmentation, sales enablement and marketing campaigns globally. As vice president of marketing, she led the re-branding and re-listing efforts for MCI and established it as a global market leader. Her career in technology began with Cable and Wireless in 1987.
Carr earned a B.A. in French from William Smith College. As a student at the Colleges, she spent a year in Paris at the Institute of European Studies. Carr has held trustee positions within charitable organizations, including The Heritage Classic Foundation, and has been an active member of the Georgia 100 Mentor Exchange Program, as well as several other mentoring organizations.
Carr and her husband, Peter R. Carr Sr. '87 have two children.
