Alexander “Ali” Marpet ’15
During Reunion 2025, Alexander “Ali” Marpet ’15 was awarded the Hobart and William Smith Trustee Community Service Award. Ali is a retired NFL player and is currently pursuing a doctorate in psychology.
Ali was selected 61st overall (2nd Round) of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, becoming the highest drafted Division III player in NCAA history. Ali was named team captain for the Buccaneers in 2018 and 2019, helped the Buccaneers win the Super Bowl in the 2020 season and was selected to the NFL’s Pro Bowl in 2021. Ali retired from professional football in 2021 after seven seasons.
In 2018, Ali was a Founding Member of the Social Justice Player Board, which created a mentorship program connecting players and staff with 25 middle school students in biweekly sessions, emphasizing civic involvement, academic achievement and emotional intelligence. He directed over $1 million dollars of social justice funding provided by The Buccaneers Foundation and spearheaded important dialogue, programming, and team engagement in social justice issues throughout the Tampa Bay community. Ali was a volunteer leader with Metropolitan Ministries in 2022 where he helped organize and fund several holiday-giving events that fed thousands and provided gifts for hundreds of families. He has been an Intervention Specialist at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay offering follow-up care coordination services for persons needing short-term advocacy and support, including victims of crimes.
Ali currently serves on the SAA Board of Directors. He was awarded the Young Alumnus Award in 2021 and was inducted into the Hobart Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023.
Established in 2009, the Hobart and William Smith Trustee Community Service Award honors and celebrates alumni, alumnae, parents and friends of the Colleges who lead lives of consequence.
