Men's Studies News
The Men’s Studies Minor has recently completed an exciting revision, as approved by the HWS Committee on Academic Affairs. The Minor expanded from five courses to six, and includes two fascinating new courses: at the introductory level, “MNST 101 College Men: Campus Life and the Quest for Manhood”; and for the Senior Capstone experience, “MNST 301 Theories of Masculinity.” The classic sociology and history bidisciplinary course, “BIDS 245 Men and Masculinity,” remains at the center of the Minor, and there is an updated selection of electives in Theory, LGBT, and Gender course work to complete the offerings. While the subject of the Minor is men and masculinity, all students, however gender identified, are strongly encouraged to pursue course work in this interdisciplinary field of study.
