31 January 2024 Meskan ’24 To Join CVS Health as Analyst

The combination of academic coursework and internships ready John Meskan ’24 for the financial field at CVS Health.

Following graduation, economics major and entrepreneurial studies minor John Meskan ’24 will join CVS Health as an analyst in the corporation’s finance leadership development program, where he will complete three, one-year rotations in controllership fundamentals, finance planning and analysis, and data analysis and visualization.

“It is this mix of economics and leadership programs and the accounting and calculus classes I have taken on campus that started my interest in leadership at an organizational level. I now have a lot of confidence in predicting and understanding economic trends and data.” John Meskan '24

He says he’s positioned well for the post thanks to a combination of economics courses which “put the right tools in my tool belt” and his work as a Centennial Scholar in the HWS Leads Program. “It is this mix of economics and leadership programs and the accounting and calculus classes I have taken on campus that started my interest in leadership at an organizational level. I now have a lot of confidence in predicting and understanding economic trends and data.”

Meskan says two internships also were pivotal in preparing him for the position. Last summer, Meskan worked in the Internal Audit Department for CVS Health under its Chief of Staff where he developed a greater understanding of internal controls and international auditing practices. “This was extremely eye opening; I enjoyed both the people I worked with and the finance/management projects I worked on.”

The previous summer, he worked at RxFunction, Inc. in his hometown of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, where he helped create a product manufacturing process that met FDA standards and other specifications. “This internship got me interested in the healthcare field and it inspired me to pursue more healthcare opportunities.”

On campus, Meskan serves as president of Hobart Club Hockey and is a member of the Investment Committee and Kappa Alpha Society. He works in the Office of Admissions and studied abroad in Galway, Ireland last spring.
