Congratulations and welcome to the Hobart and William Smith community.
As the Director of Parent Programs, I look forward to working with you over the course of your student's HWS career. As a parent of two kids in college, I understand the pride, excitement and, yes, even the anxiety that you are likely feeling right now.
Over the next four years, your student will face challenges, explore new interests and grow as a person. You have placed your trust in Hobart and William Smith, and we intend to honor that trust by supporting your student during every step of that process. Our goal is to ensure that your student leaves us with the tools necessary to be successful.
Your student's first experience at HWS, Orientation, will take place from Thursday, Aug. 20 - Sunday, Aug. 23. Remote programming for families will also take place on Thursday, Aug. 20, connecting you to resources across campus. All scheduled activities will be accessible through the Parents and Families Webpage including recordings of all sessions for those who cannot attend live.
Again, please accept my congratulations and warm welcome.
Director of Parent Programs
To help you prepare for your arrival to HWS, the Office of Campus Life hosted a webinar on July 23 with details regarding our opening plan including move-in procedures, COVID-19 testing policies, student quarantine and much more. Please review and send any questions or concerns to Fall2020@hws.edu.
What are the differences between high school level and college level coursework? Many! The Center for Teaching and Learning supports students as they uncover new ways of thinking, writing, questioning, problem-solving, and discussing. CTL hosted a webinar on Aug. 5 to familiarize incoming students and their families with the resources available through their office. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
