Kristen Tobey

Director of Student Activities

Kristen is responsible for the overall supervision and leadership of the Office of Student Activities. In addition to overseeing opportunities for students to get involved on campus, Kristen works closely with the orientation program, Hobart Student Government, William Smith Congress, student trustees, budget allocation process, Greek life, and clubs and organizations. She works on several campus wide committees and coordinates campus wide programming efforts. Kristen enjoys helping students take advantage of their out of class experiences which promote student development and teach valuable leadership skills. She also serves as a facilitator for the Personal Empowerment Course at the Colleges.

Kristen graduated from Marywood University with a master’s degree in school leadership and a dual bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, enjoying outdoor activities, and bringing her golden retrievers Kinley and Hadley for frequent swims in Seneca Lake.

Chad Freeman

Associate Director of Student Activities

Chad helps coordinate the day to day operations of the Office of Student Activities. In addition to promoting leadership opportunities for students to get involved on campus, Chad works closely with the Hobart & William Smith Class Presidents, Sorority Life, HWS Engage, the Concert Advisory Committee, The Buzz, the After Dark Series, clubs and organizations. He works with several campus wide committees to coordinate campus wide programming efforts, such as Senior Week and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center. Chad enjoys connecting students to the campus and with community to grow and develop themselves holistically.

Chad graduated from Louisiana State University with a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and from Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Sociology & Cultural Anthropology, and minored in Women & Gender Studies. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his husband, their dog and cat, friends, playing host to guests, traveling, and exploring the Finger Lakes and all it has to offer!
