Welcome to the 2022 Open Enrollment webpage. Benefits Open Enrollment will take place this year October 29th through November 15th. Employees are now able to log into the benefit portal using PeopleSoft single sign on. Simply log into PeopleSoft with your HWS username and password as you normally do and then navigate to the benefit portal located under the Human Resources menu. As a benefits eligible faculty or staff member, you have access to a range of quality benefit options so you can get the coverage you need for yourself and your eligible family members. Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to reassess your healthcare, life insurance, and other benefit needs - by considering how you used your benefits in 2021 and how your needs may change in 2022.

Benefits eligible faculty and staff are able to enroll in or make changes to their benefit elections for the upcoming calendar year during Open Enrollment. Log in to the benefit portal to review your benefit elections from last year and to update benefit elections for calendar year 2022. Click here for directions on how to log in to Aleraedge.com. Open enrollment begins on October 29th at 12:00 a.m. and closes on November 15th at 11:59 p.m. Once Open Enrollment closes you will not be able to make a benefit change until the next Open Enrollment, unless you have a qualifying life event.

If you do not elect any changes, your current benefit elections will remain in effect with the exception of flexible spending. Remember, health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts will default to No Contribution so it is important that you (re)elect the appropriate contribution each year.

2022 Benefit Highlights

Human Resources is hosting several virtual sessions for employees to learn about benefit offerings and to ask questions. Benefit presentations will be held on the below dates and Zoom links will be shared soon via email.

Summary of Changes

One component of your benefits package is a robust health insurance plan that HWS pays 70 to 95 percent of on your behalf. With health care costs having increased substantially during 2021, higher than usual claims activity, and the Colleges' desire to maintain consistent or expanded coverage, Excellus is increasing the Colleges' medical plan costs by 15% in 2022. Based on feedback received from employees who participated in a brief survey Human Resources circulated on September 27, 2021, HWS is absorbing almost 5% of this increase. As a result, employees will see an increase of approximately 10% in their medical premium rates as of January 1, 2022 along with a slight increase in deductibles and maximum out of pocket expenses.

Due to COVID deadline changes, Health and Dependent Care FSA enrollments for the 2020 calendar year must have services incurred no later than December 31, 2021 and claims submitted by January 31, 2022 for reimbursement. Health and Dependent Care FSA services for the 2021 calendar year must have services incurred no later than December 31, 2022 and claims submitted by January 31, 2023 for reimbursement. The regular grace period schedule for FSA incurred claims will resume for 2022 FSA enrollments where services must be incurred by March 15, 2023 and claims submitted by June 15, 2023.
