Summer Housing begins Friday, May 20, 2016
SUMMER JOB/INTERNSHIP STUDENT HOUSING is coordinated with the Conferences and Events Office by the office/department the student has accepted the job/internship with this summer. April 1 is the summer housing deadline. Students, please contact your office/department contact for further information.

Required information for summer housing:
- Student first and last name
- Student CWID
- Student cell phone number
- Job/internship/research/academic/post-season start and end dates (not housing dates)
- Departmental 17-digit accounting number
Details on when residence halls close and temporary housing:
All students, except RA staff and graduating seniors, must fully vacate residences 24 hours after last exam. If last exam is on Tuesday, then student must fully vacate residence by noon on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
All graduating seniors must fully vacate residences by noon on Monday, May 16, 2016.
All residences will close at noon on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. If a student is staying beyond May 11, then an approval for a temporary stay is required. The temporary stay request deadline is April 10. An approved temporary stay provides the student the ability to reside in an assigned temporary residence on campus per approved date, but it does not guarantee the room will be the student’s current spring residence. Any temporary stays from 12:00 p.m. on May 11 through 8 p.m. on May 20, depending on which building they live in currently, will need to relocate to temporary housing at Jackson, Potter and Rees. Please be prepared to move to temporary housing as early as noon on May 11.
Temporary housing will close and must be fully vacated by 8:00 p.m. on May 20.
Summer students staying in temporary housing until summer housing is ready should be prepared to move from temporary housing to summer housing within 24 hours of notification. Please understand there is potential the notification could begin as early as May 16 or 17.
Students must reside in assigned summer housing.
Summer Housing FAQs
How much does summer housing cost?
The cost for summer housing is $85.00 per week. Your student account will be charged directly if you are a self-pay. If your housing is paid by a department, then the department will be charged directly.
How do I know if I am approved for summer housing?
You will receive an email stating your summer housing move in and move out date, either on or after May 1st, that will let you know if you are approved for summer housing.
Where do I pick up my keys for summer housing?
If you have been approved for summer housing, you must pick up your summer housing key on the day you have been approved to move into your housing assignment. You or your department will begin being charged for summer housing on the day you pick up your keys. Keys can be picked up at the Conferences and Events Office, Harris House, 678 S. Main Street, from 9AM till 5PM, Monday through Friday, to sign a rental agreement and key policy. After office hours, or on the weekend, you must sign the rental agreement and pick up your key at Campus Safety. You will not receive your keys or be able to move into your summer housing until the rental agreement and key policy have been signed.
Where do I drop off my school year keys?
School year keys must be dropped off at the drop box outside of the Residential Education Office.
When do I move into my summer housing?
- On the day you have been approved per your housing agreement.
- If you have totally vacated the colleges after your last exam and are returning to campus for summer housing when your work starts:
You will be able to move into your summer housing assignment 24 hours before your work start date.
Is there someone available to help me move my belongings from my school year residence to my summer housing?
With Commencement preparations in full swing, we do not have vehicles or staff available during summer housing moves.
Am I required to have a meal plan?
No. Summer housing students are not required to have a meal plan. Every summer housing residence has a kitchen; therefore students will be responsible for cooking their own meals. Can I store my belongings on campus if I am leaving the colleges after my last exam and coming back for summer housing?
No. Storage is NOT provided on campus for anyone leaving the colleges. There are no exceptions. We will not be responsible for any items left.
Where can I do my laundry?
Each group has a laundry facility in or near their living space. Please contact your department representative for your location if you do not have a laundry facility in your house.
