The Monster Cookie is an integral and delicious part of Hobart and William Smith traditions. Here, Saga's-famed catering manager Pat Heieck offers the recipe for two-dozen Monster Cookies.

2 c. of Brown Sugar
2 c. of Granulated sugar
1 and ½ c. Butter
1 and ½ c. Shortening
2 tsp. of vanilla
4 Lg. Eggs
5 c. Cake Flour
1 tsp. of salt
2 tsp. Baking Soda
24 oz of Chocolate Chips (2 standard bags)

Pre-Heat Oven to 350 degrees

In a large mixing bowl, cream together sugars, butter and shortening until light and fluffy.

Add vanilla and eggs (one at a time beating well after each egg is added).

In another bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.

Add dry mixture to the creamed sugars, and blend well while folding in chocolate chips.

To make each Monster Cookie , form ¼ c. of dough into a ball, roll in additional granulated sugar and place on greased baking sheet.

With fingertips, press each monster ball into a four-inch circle.

Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned.

Remove cookies from oven and cool on baking sheet for one minute.

Place Cookies on wire rack and COOL completely
