FLI Interns

FLI’s Sarah Meyer and FLI Interns remove water net from
Seneca Lake State Park as part of research project on the
area’s environment.

Over 60 students have participated as Finger Lakes Institute interns. Students complete credit bearing, paid and/or volunteer positions as interns, independent studies, federal work-study, and more specialized projects, such as Community Based Research Projects, and Senior Integrative Experiences. Each student participant has a working relationship with a FLI staff member as the student completes projects pertaining to research, education, community outreach, and economic development. Through this program, students acquire responsibility for their own learning, cultural and technical knowledge of the Finger Lakes region, and a personal connection with the communities/organizations they serve.

Example entities for which our FLI interns have served include:

  • Finger Lakes Regional Watershed Alliance
  • Seneca Lake State Park
  • Town of Victor, N.Y.
  • City of Geneva
  • The Arc
