Hobart Hockey Moves Up to No. 3

The Hobart College hockey team moved up one spot to rank No. 3 in this week's USCHO.com poll. It's the highest ranking the Statesmen have ever achieved in the USCHO.com poll. Hobart is also ranked No. 3 in the D3hockey.com poll.
The Statesmen are 11-1-2 overall and 5-0-1 in ECAC West play. The Hobart hockey team is just returning from a 10-day trip to Europe over the semester break. The Statesmen played exhibition games while touring Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Germany.
Senior Frank Salituro leads the Statesmen with nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points so far this season. He ranks second in the ECAC West in points, is tied for second in goals and tied for third in assists. In addition, Salituro shares the conference lead and is tied for eighth in the nation with five power-play goals. Senior goalie Nick Broadwater leads the nation with a 1.36 goals against average. He also sits atop the league and ranks second in the nation with a .948 save percentage. Broadwater is tied for second in Division III with three shutouts this year.
Hobart leads the conference and ranks third in the nation in scoring defense allowing an average of 1.64 goals per game. The Statesmen are second in the ECAC West and ninth in Division III scoring 4.21 goals per game. Hobart is also tied for eighth in the country and ranks second in the conference in penalty kills (26.2 percent).
The Statesmen will be back in action this weekend. Hobart will travel to take on Curry on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 4:35 p.m., and then will play at Nichols on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 4:10 p.m.
