On Monday, November 12, the 13th Annual 'Ghosts in Togas' Halloween Lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanford Room.
This year's guest speaker, Professor Elizabeth Vandiver from Whitman College, will be giving a talk entitled: "By His Dead SmileI Knew We Stood in Hell: Underworld Journeys in First World War Poetry". Professor Vandiver's research interests center on Classical tradition and the reception of Classical tradition and the theory. She has published extensively on these subjects and has been invited to countless institutions of higher learning to give workshops and presentations on these subjects as well. Furthermore, she has won multiple teaching awards including the American Philological Association's Excellence in Teaching Award.
