Scott Iklé ’84

by Mary LeClair

Every day since he began serving as the head coach of the HWS sailing team in 1993, Scott Iklé ’84 has commuted to sailing practice by boat. Currently he travels to practice on a 17-foot Zodiac inflatable boat with Tucker, his third Portuguese Water Dog during his tenure. The three-mile ride from his home on Clark’s Point on Seneca Lake “is one of the best benefits of the job,” he says. “It’s 15 minutes when I can clear my mind. On the ride in, I start to focus on practice, while the ride home allows me to wrap up my day and enjoy the sunset. Because of the ever-changing weather, every sunset over Seneca Lake is just a little different and always spectacular.”
