Day 1 (Friday, April 8, 2016) - Arrive at Shannon airport in the morning (located near the city of Limerick) and travel through County Clare to Galway City


  • Bus pickup from airport at 9 a.m.
  • Cliffs of Moher and other sights in County Clare
  • Tour and discussion given by an archeologist at Caherconnell, a prehistoric ring fort
  • Lunch provided at Caherconnell
  • Arrive at the hotel in Galway (3-night stay) in late afternoon
  • Relax at hotel
  • Welcome group dinner at hotel approximately 6 p.m.

Day 2 (Saturday, April 9, 2016) - An insider's look at Galway City


  • Walk through Galway City to the University
  • A talk on Irish history at National University of Ireland (NUI) at Galway by a history professor at NUI Galway
  • A talk on the economy of Ireland by Pat at NUI Galway
  • Lunch on your own
  • Guided tour of Galway city
  • Evening: free time; dinner on your own

Day 3 (Sunday, April 10, 2016) - Aran Islands and Connemara


  • Board bus at the hotel in morning to Rossaveal to catch the ferry
  • Ferry to Aran Islands
  • Guided tour of Inishmor, largest of the Aran Islands
  • Visit to Dun Aengus, a large ring fort (a rough uphill walk)
  • Return on the ferry from Aran Islands
  • Return by bus to Galway through Connemara sightseeing along the way
  • Evening: free time; dinner on your own


Day 4 (Monday, April 11, 2016) - On the road to County Mayo


  • Bus leaves Galway in the morning (in and out of the bus all day)
  • Visit the ruins of Ross-Errilly, a Franciscan monastery near Headford, County Galway
  • Visit Ashford Castle and Cong where the Quiet Man was filmed
  • Visit a famine memorial near Croagh Patrick, a place of pilgrimage, and the mountain, where legend has it, St. Patrick chased the snakes from Ireland
  • Lunch at Leenaun on the only fjord in Ireland
  • Arrive at hotel in Westport, County Mayo (1-night stay)
  • Evening: free time; dinner on your own

Day 5 (Tuesday, April 12, 2016) – On the road to County Sligo


  • Bus leaves Westport in the morning (in and out of the bus all day)
  • Tour of County Mayo which was one of the counties hardest hit by the famine and the collapse of the Celtic Tiger
  • Stop at the Country Life Museum near Castlebar
  • Queen Maeve Cairn, Ballintubber Abbey
  • Visit various sites in County Mayo
  • Arrive at the hotel in Sligo town (1-night stay)
  • Evening: free time; dinner on your own

Day 6 (Wednesday, April 13, 2016) - On the road to Derry in Northern Ireland


  • Bus leaves Sligo in the morning (in and out of the bus all day)
  • Guided tour of Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery (walking - rain or shine)
  • Drumcliff – burial site of W.B. Yeats
  • Coastline drive
  • Visit Grinan of Aileach, an impressive early ring fort (built in 1700 BC)
  • Arrive at the hotel in Derry (1-night stay)
  • Walking tour of Derry a walled city.
  • Evening: Dinner on your own

The Giant's Causeway, Antrim coast, Northern Ireland

Day 7 (Thursday, April 14, 2016) – On the road in Northern Ireland


  • Bus leaves the hotel in morning (in and out of the bus all day)
  • Guided Tour of Dunluce castle, an excellent example of a medieval Irish castle
  • Tour of Giants Causeway, Northern Ireland's number one tourist attraction
  • Tour of the Bushmills Distillery
  • Travel to Donegal Town
  • Evening: group dinner at the hotel

Day 8 (Friday, April 15, 2016) -
Return to Galway City


  • Bus leaves the hotel in Donegal town in the morning
  • Return to Galway with a stop at Knock, a pilgrimage site similar to Lourdes, and other sites along the way
  • Arrive at Galway hotel in late afternoon (2 night stay)
  • Evening and dinner on your own

Day 9 (Saturday, April 16, 2016) – A Free Day in Galway


  • You are on your own to play golf, shop, explore or just relax and enjoy this wonderful city. We will have additional suggestions, if needed.
  • Final dinner at hotel

Day 10 (Sunday, April 17, 2016)


  • Bus leaves for Shannon airport in the early morning
  • Arrive at Shannon airport 2 hours before scheduled return flight
  • Slan (goodbye) to Ireland
  • Arrive in the United States
