50TH REUNION - Class Gift

Making a gift in acknowledgement of your 50th Reunion can be a gratifying part of your weekend celebration, helping strengthen ties with the Colleges while renewing shared feelings of pride. During Reunion weekend, the 50th Reunion Class will report to President Vincent the outcome of four goals:

  1. One year annual fund total of gifts made between June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018
  2. One year giving participation percentage
  3. Five-year, all-in giving since 45th
  4. Number of classmates who have included the Colleges in their estate plans (Wheeler Society membership)

Ways to Give

Outright Gift

All cash gifts, of any amount, to any designation count towards the Classes of 1968 50th Reunion gift. That means you can give to the area(s) that mean the most to you.

And, if you make a five year pledge, the full amount is counted towards the Classes of 1968 50th Reunion gift as long as the first payment is received by May 31, 2018.

By donating appreciated securities you’ve held for more than one year you can receive a charitable deduction for the full market value and avoid paying tax on the capital appreciation of those assets.

Bequest

You can make a gift that costs you nothing during your lifetime and leaves your cash flow and current financial planning unchanged.

Your intended gift can be unrestricted or directed to a specific purpose.

Indicate a specific amount or a percentage of the balance remaining in your estate or trust.

Retirement Plan

You can leverage your retirement assets to benefit you and your family, reduce Uncle Sam's cut, and support HWS far into the future.

Name Hobart and William Smith Colleges as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other qualified retirement plan. You can continue to take regular withdrawals and maintain flexibility to change beneficiaries if your family's needs change during your lifetime. Your heirs avoid the potential double taxation on the assets left in your retirement account.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity provides for your financial security, delivers tax advantages, and helps you create a legacy at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

A charitable gift annuity can be established for one or two people with cash or securities valued at $25,000 or more. You’ll receive dependable, cash-flow for life, regardless of fluctuations in the market. In many cases, receive payments at a rate higher than the interest you are currently receiving on investments. You’ll also receive an immediate income tax deduction for a portion of your gift and a portion of your annuity payment will be tax-free.

Please consider making a gift in honor of your 50th Reunion. Give back, come back.
