The William F. Scandling ’49, LL.D. ’67 Trustee Scholarship for Academic Excellence is awarded to 50-60 students each year and winners are selected by the Admissions Committee.

Trustee Scholar winners are among those invited to campus for Scholar Day, and from that group the full-tuition Hersh and Wood Scholars will be selected. Scholar Day will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

Trustee Scholars are awarded $25,000 annually and the opportunity to compete for additional $5,000 grants in specific academic areas.



Students must meet at least one of the following criteria to apply for this scholarship program:

  1. Combined SAT scores of 1250 or higher (critical reading and math)
  2. ACT composite score of 28 or higher
  3. Rank in the top 10 percent of class
  4. Cumulative GPA of 90 percent or equivalent on a 4.0 scale

In addition, all Trustee Scholar candidates must have had an admissions interview with a member of the admissions staff or an alumni/alumnae representative by February 1.

Competitive international scholarship applicants will be individually contacted by a member of the Office of Admissions to set up an interview.

The Trustee Scholars Program requires the submission of the scholarship application, application for admission and all supporting materials by January 15 (postmark date).
