  • Student Activities

At HWS, learning doesn't stop in the classroom. With more than 80 student-led groups, students have access to social and educational opportunities that empower growth and development. By joining in, students become part of a community that never stops thinking, learning or questioning.

  • HWS Athletics

More than 80 percent of students are involved in some kind of athletic activity, whether it's intramural or intercollegiate athletic teams or outdoor recreation like hiking and camping. Those who wish to enjoy the fun and competition of athletics without the time commitment often join club sports or fitness activities.

  • Environmental Sustainability

Sustainability is a big part of campus culture at HWS. Being green has become a collective effort that brings together the entire range of HWS community members, student organizations and academic disciplines. Wind energy now supplies 100 percent of the electricity used at HWS.

  • President's Forum Series

Each year, the President's Forum Series welcomes some of the most important and recognizable politicians, intellectuals and social activists to the HWS campus. The most recent series focused on a variety of timely topics, including civic engagement, women's health, gay rights, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

  • Performing Arts Center

Engaging sensibilities, stretching imaginations and offering critical reflection, the performing arts are vital to the rich, interdisciplinary education and social experience at HWS. As we look to the future, a new Performing Arts Center is scheduled to be built that will enhance the academic and extracurricular activities at the heart of campus.

  • Intercultural Affairs

The Intercultural Center is a place that creates an environment where students find support for their personal growth, academic success and the development of their leadership skills. Programs are available that promote cross-cultural opportunities and support students.

  • Pre-Business

The Center for Career Services and Professional Development (CSO) and the Pre-Business Adviser are available to help HWS students who think they may be interested in a career in business assess the connection between key business competencies and their interests, values and skills. If you are interested in exploring a career in finance, banking or accounting, please call x3514 or e-mailcso@hws.edu to schedule a preliminary appointment with the Pre-Business Adviser.
