Finger Lakes Scholarship

The Finger Lakes Scholarship is awarded to incoming first year students who are nominated by a Finger Lakes area high school official and are in the top 10% of their high school class. The Finger Lakes Scholarship is also awarded to transfer students who have completed or are near completion of a degree from any of the following community colleges: Broome Community College, Cayuga Community College, Corning Community College, Finger Lakes Community College, Monroe Community College, Onondaga Community College, Tompkins Cortland Community College.

Students who are nominated or show proof of graduation from one of the above mentioned community colleges will automatically receive the Finger Lakes Scholarship provided that they complete the following requirements prior to the admissions application deadline:

Finger Lakes Scholarship Specifics

  • $30,000 annual award
  • Winners have the opportunity to compete for an additional $5,000 grant by expressing interest in the additional funds and attending Scholar Recognition Day.
  • Recipients must meet satisfactory academic progress, uphold community standards and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA after the completion of two semesters at HWS.
  • Finger Lakes Scholars will also be invited to an induction dinner with leading Finger Lakes community members, assigned a faculty mentor in their field of choice and encouraged to pursue an internship or research opportunity that will directly benefit the Finger Lakes region
