In 2007, Yates Family Planning Center established a teen pregnancy prevention program called R.E.A.L. (Responsible for Every Action in Life). In order for R.E.A.L. to be considered a true evidence-based program, research and analysis of other ‘proven’ teen pregnancy prevention programs is necessary. The researcher familiarized herself with the program and its own evaluation methods, and then turned to other programs around the country to compare with R.E.A.L. In her research, she focused on the evaluation of such programs: what types of tools were used, what questions were asked, and how they were asked. The information was then used to make recommendations for R.E.A.L. to update and improve their own evaluation methods.
