SATOR Transportation

Geneva (New York) is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes district, 304 miles from New York City, 275 miles from Philadelphia, 203 miles from Toronto, and 300 miles from Montreal. Conference participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the conference. They are responsible for the cost of their trip.

FLYING

The most convenient airport is the Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC), less than an hour away. Major airlines (Delta/Air France, Jet Blue, American, Air Canada, South West United, etc.) offer direct flights from major cities in the US and Canada, that connect easily with international flights.

There is no commercial transportation available between the Rochester airport and Geneva. To fill in this gap, a continuously running shuttle between the Rochester airport and Geneva will be made available to the conference participants. It will run Sunday PM, Monday morning, Wednesday afternoon, and Thursday morning. To use the free shuttle service, the conference participants must inform the conference organizers of their hour of arrival, and hour of departure, as soon as they have their plane ticket. If they so wish, participants may also share a taxi, or rent a car.

One may opt to fly to, and from, another neighboring airport, Syracuse (SYR), Ithaca (ITH) or Buffalo (BUF). But the conference will only provide transportation from, and to, the Rochester airport.

TRAIN

It is possible to take the train between New York or Montreal to Syracuse, one hour away from Geneva. A taxi can be shared, or car a rented, to complete the trip to Geneva.

BUS

Travel by bus from New York to Geneva can also be arranged. Greyhound has a direct line to and from New York to Geneva. Low cost buses are also available between New York and Syracuse or Rochester (both one hour away from Geneva). Websites such as www.wanderu.com can help you find the best prices. A car can be rented to complete the trip to Geneva.

To be picked up by the shuttle at the Rochester airport, do not forget to communicate the details of your ticket (gallouet@hws.edu).
