JPR, a residence complex made up of Jackson, Potter and Rees halls, was built in 1966. Potter Hall houses 124 students first-year and upper class Hobart and William Smith students.

First-year students are housed in double or triple rooms, while upper class students live in single and double rooms. All rooms are equipped with full telephone, cable, and computer/Internet access.

In the fall of 1998, Potter Hall had new flooring and paint in the common areas, new bathrooms, and upgraded living rooms. The building was completely renovated in 2005 to include open lounge spaces on every floor.

Named for John Milton Potter, president of Hobart and William Smith Colleges from 1942 to 1947, Potter Hall has bathrooms and lounges on each floor. A large lounge and game room is available on the first floor of Rees Hall.
