Located on what is becoming popularly known as Emerson Hill, Caird Hall was opened for student residency on January 15, 2005, along with its sister building de Cordova Hall.
Caird Hall houses 88 residents in 20 singles, 24 doubles and 5 quads. The rooms offer separate temperature controls for each room, with forced air heating and air conditioning. All rooms are equipped with full telephone, cable, and computer/Internet access.
Each of the building's floors is furnished with a lounge/living area that includes wireless Internet access, large screen televisions and comfortable seating arrangements.
The ground floor is open to all residents and provides a recreational area (with foosball, pool tables, and a dartboard) as well as a work out room (with exercise equipment and a small dance studio) and laundry room. A full kitchen is also available on the first floor as well as a snack bar and vending machines.
Access to the second floor and higher (where the resident rooms are) is through a locked stairwell or locked elevator, to maintain the security of the building.
