Art and Architecture
Christine Chin had a relatively quiet summer working in the studio on a new body of work and enjoying time with her daughter Lillian. She also was invited and started work on a collaborative novel project with a diverse and talented group of writers and artists, led by artist Patrick Nagatani. Her work was in a Regional Faculty Invitational exhibition at Gallery R in Rochester, July 26-Aug 28 (all of the HWS studio art faculty were represented!). On September 6th she traveled to an opening of a solo exhibition of her work Sentient Kitchen at the Nan Boynton Gallery of Gallery 621, a non-profit contemporary art space in Tallahassee, FL. Upcoming, another piece from Sentient Kitchen will be part of an group invitational exhibition entitled "Perceptions" at Flow Art Space in St Paul, MN.
Gabriella spent the summer working on a design competition submission called Sound Garden for an organization called Revolve Detroit. It made it to the final round of reviews and they are still interested in the possibility of building it somewhere in Detroit even though it was not ultimately chosen as a winning proposal for the competition.
