Provide general administrative support to the director, assistant directors and area coordinator staff of the Office of Residential Education. Serves as the initial contact person for the office, receiving phone calls; scheduling appointments and managing student and parent traffic flow. Additionally, the Coordinator serves as primary support for the residential education program and responds to problems, inquiries and concerns from Hobart and William Smith students, parents, staff and faculty concerning housing, meal plans and all other aspects of student life.
The successful candidate will have an associate's degree or certificate in office technology or a related field and one to three years of secretarial or administrative assistant experience preferred; or a high school diploma and one to three years of secretarial or administrative experience required. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized individual able to work in fast-paced and high-pressure environment. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills as well as a strong customer service orientation. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of software including Microsoft Outlook, Work and Excel. Prior experience with housing management systems (e.g., CBORD Odyssey, Banner, Adirondack) and PeopleSoft is a preference and strongly desired. Patience, sense of humor and flexibility with the day-to-day activities and demands of a residential campus will be beneficial.
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position within the Collective Bargaining Unit. The position is a Grade 16 with a starting rate of pay of $12.43 per hour. Standard weekly work schedule is 37.5 hours during the academic year and 30 hours during the scheduled summer work weeks. Work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (academic year). Summer hours will be scheduled accordingly. Additional hours may be required at the beginning and end of each semester (opening and closing), special events, and holidays. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
