Regional Admissions Representative - Metro New York City
Office of Admissions

SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of professional activities to facilitate the recruitment, selection and yield of diverse and academically talented undergraduate students. Serves as a member of admissions team in the overall support and/or coordination of enrollment management, student recruitment, market research, long range planning, managing records and information systems, admission of students, and admissions volunteer coordination.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing individual recruitment plans for interested prospective students.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with high school and independent counselors, as well as community based organizations.
  • Attending college fairs/nights and making individual visits to high schools in those areas during the fall and spring of each year.
  • Arranging and conducting individual interviews with students.
  • Tele-counseling with prospective students to encourage campus visits as well as applying for admission. Maintaining appropriate follow-up communication with these students regarding the status of their applications for admission and financial aid.
  • Working closely with the Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment to insure that the Colleges are making every effort to attract and enroll a diverse student population from the area.
  • Mobilizing our local alumni/ae to support the Colleges' recruitment efforts in the area.
  • Traveling to campus several times each year, often in conjunction with prospective students or counselors from the area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Representing the Colleges to prospective students and their families in New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, and northern New Jersey, the qualifications include:

A bachelor's degree minimum. Experience in college admissions would be helpful, but not required. Proven experience in small and large presentations, exceptional communications skills, ability to work independently, sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies and strong organizational skills are critical. Initiative, a sense of urgency and the ability to execute would be important competencies for this position.Preference given to candidates who reside in the New York metro area.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative salaried position. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
