Associate Director for Affinity Engagement
Department of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving
Office of Advancement

SUMMARY:

The Associate Director assumes primary responsibility for developing and maintaining a comprehensive development program focused on engaging alumni and alumnae through their various interests and loyalties with an aim toward enhancing their connections and giving to HWS. Under the supervision of the Director, s/he is responsible for achieving highly quantifiable, measureable goals, including Annual Giving dollar and participation goals established for each affinity group.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute plan to leverage affinities and loyalties to meet annual giving objectives.
  • Develop and maintain system for identifying and cataloging alumni and alumnae loyalties.
  • Work with various campus departments to support development programs for established HWS affinity groups, including the Statesman Athletic Association, Heron Society, Afro-Latino Alumni Association, Geneva Scholarship Associates, fraternity alumni groups, etc.
  • Develop new affinity-based programs to engage alumni and alumnae.
  • Develop and manage events associated with affinity groups.
  • Manage lead volunteers associated with affinity groups.
  • Develop and execute communications plan for affinity groups to include newsletters, social media, web, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of fundraising experience and/or higher educational experience, with strong organizational skills and ability to work with and motivate volunteers for fundraising initiatives is desired.
  • S/he has strong organizational, writing and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting firm deadlines.
  • Curiosity, creativity and a sense of humor are also strongly preferred.
  • Has an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of Raiser's Edge development software desirable.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative salaried (exempt) position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours. Some evening and weekend work may be required. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
