POSITION DESCRIPTION

Junior Graphic Designer
Office of Communications

Provide graphic design to support the production of various internal and external communication media, promotional material, student recruitment/retention pieces, and donor solicitation materials for the Colleges. Provide backup design of web pages and web graphics.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Graphic design for the production of a variety of publications such as posters, brochures, newsletters, booklets, invitations and other projects that help publicize and promote the activities of the Colleges. Design work includes the ability to perform single- and multiple-page layouts and produce original or adapted artwork to be used in publications suitable for print. As assigned by supervisor, must be able to develop original artwork and page layouts and/or incorporate subsequent supervisor revisions to create complete, accurate and effective publications. Create and/or revise publication layouts and Web pages using advanced design and desktop publishing software, scanning and photo enhancement software, draw/illustration programs such as, Adobe Creative Suite CS2 - InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite programs – Dreamweaver, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc. Knowledge of Flash a plus.

Must be able to work independently on assignments in a deadline sensitive environment, as well as collaboratively with other Communications and Colleges’ staff to determine the best solution for conveying messages.

May be required to act as project manager for specific publications, identifying resources necessary to support the project, specify job details, obtain cost estimates, and follow through until project is completed and delivered.

QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree in graphic design or combination of associate’s degree in graphic design plus two years design experience is required. Skilled in the use of Adobe Creative Suite CS3 programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite programs, and familiar with web-authoring software such as Dreamweaver.

OTHER INFORMATION
This position is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours time period. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
