POSITION DESCRIPTION

Assistant Director of Annual Giving
Office of Institutional Advancement

Assumes primary responsibility for developing and maintaining a comprehensive program focused on young alumni/ae giving to The Fund for Hobart and William Smith, the Colleges' annual unrestricted budget-relieving account. Specifically, the Assistant Director focuses on young alum participation initiatives, a young alum leadership giving program, and the management of a young alumni/alumnae volunteer base. Under the supervision of the Direction of Annual Giving, he/she is responsible for achieving highly quantifiable, measurable goals within the overall mission of The Fund for Hobart and William Smith.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the fundraising efforts for the ten youngest alumni/ae classes, including the 5th and 10th Reunions.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for The Fund for Hobart and William Smith.
  • Execute a successful young alumni/ae leadership giving program.
  • Train and oversee student clerical staff to perform administrative office duties.
  • Assist the Director in developing print and web materials to support The Fund for HWS.
  • Represent the Colleges and the Division of Institutional Advancement on campus and in public in a professional, knowledgeable way.
  • Travel as needed for prospect cultivation and solicitation.
  • Perform other related duties commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree required, and two or more years of experience in higher education fundraising is preferred. Must be a creative, energetic self-starter who is comfortable working with limited supervision. Must take initiative, demonstrate confidence, and must be trusted with highly sensitive and confidential information regarding donors. Exceptional time management and organizational skills are a must, and he/she must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours. This position description is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
