PeopleSoft Senior Software Applications Engineer

SUMMARY:
The PeopleSoft Senior Software Applications Engineer plays a central role in the overall strategy, architecture, implementation, and sustaining engineering of the institution’s PeopleSoft 9.0 platform. This is a senior level role that will partner with operational areas that utilize the PeopleSoft applications or other third party software solutions that integrate and interface with the PeopleSoft suite. This person will facilitate, guide, and coach a group of highly skilled technical and business professionals in the use and evolution of PeopleSoft. The PeopleSoft Senior Engineer will provide technical counsel and guidance on topics and projects related to the PeopleSoft platform to senior management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as technical lead in a highly matrixed environment in the on-going development and sustaining engineering of the PeopleSoft software suite and technical infrastructure
- Contribute to the advancement of a shared vision for the overall PeopleSoft architecture by working with a variety of campus constituents
- Facilitate technology architecture, design, and development decisions that align with operational needs and business processes
- Serves as a senior member of the PeopleSoft Technology Team; is a “go to” person for technical questions related to PeopleSoft
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to HWS staff on PeopleSoft application modules and PeopleSoft development tools
- Provide input into the annual financial budgeting process to ensure that the PeopleSoft suite is properly sustained on an annual basis
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating support, enhancements and integration of custom-built and purchased applications that integrate with PeopleSoft
- Develop technical resolutions to support and enhance all operational processes, and work to implement new operational processes as needed by the user community
- Proactively identify and propose alternatives for the timing of PeopleSoft upgrades, patches, and fixes
- React quickly to new opportunities for extending the use of PeopleSoft throughout the institution
- Provides superior customer service to all PeopleSoft user constituent groups
- Stays informed of new technology developments regarding PeopleSoft and makes recommendations on how best to respond to these new developments
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or Business Administration plus 2 years of experience
- 2+ years experience in the implementation of multi-tiered enterprise systems, data architecture, and an overall solutions development methodology
- 2+ years overall experience in software development, systems administration, and systems architecture
- 2+ years technical experience in PeopleSoft implementations.
- 2+ years experience with Oracle Databases and Oracle Application Server within a PeopleSoft implementation
- 2+ years experience in a technical lead role
- 2+ years direct implementation experience with PeopleSoft 8.8 or higher to include, Campus Solutions, Portal, Human Capital Management, and Enterprise Performance Management.
- 2+ years direct experience with PeopleSoft development tools Process Scheduler, Application Designer, Application Engine, Application Messaging, Component Interface, and PeopleCode.
- 2+years demonstrated experience in written and interpersonal communication skills to include facilitating meetings, writing status reports, developing project plans, and generating cost estimates.
OTHER INFORMATION:
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative position. Some on-call hours required. Some weekend and evening hours may be necessary. The position is located in Geneva, NY. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
