The Hobart and William Smith Colleges Finger Lakes Aquatics Camp is perfect for individuals who plan to work at area swimming pools, town recreation programs, or summer camps. The camp will be held on the HWS campus, located on the beautiful shore of Seneca Lake.

For individuals looking for a great summer job or career as a safety team professional, the best place to start is with comprehensive training from the American Red Cross. We offer a range of programs to teach the skills and knowledge participants need to join or lead a lifeguard team. In addition, our instructor training programs are unparalleled in the industry, providing an additional level of service to members of the lifeguard community.

Classes offered through the American Red Cross

• Lifeguarding (LG), $350
• Waterfront Lifeguarding, $400
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI), $350
• Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI), $500
• (RTE) CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Providers plus RTE, $150
• CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Providers, $110*
  *This class is a 2 year certification for everyone except lifeguards, which is still a 1 year certification.
• Review Class - CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer, $90
• Review Class - Responding to Emergencies First Aid (RTE), $120
• Review Class - Lifeguard Review, $200

Enrollment

You are welcome to enroll if you:

• Are in sound physical condition and capable of an outdoor education program
• Can meet prerequisites listed for your course
• For certain classes you must meet the following age requirements by May 30 and meet the prerequisites listed:
  
  • Lifeguarding (LG), age 15
  • Waterfront Lifeguarding, age 15
  • Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI), age 17
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI), age 16

**Please bring proof of age, picture ID and receipt of class registration.

Lodging and Dining

Lodging and dining is provided for camp. On campus dining is required for all individuals attending camp due to the vigorous schedule. The first meal will be breakfast on Friday. The last meal will be lunch on Sunday. Lodging will be provided at deCordova Hall. If you live locally, you can choose to commute. The commuter price includes dining only. The overnight price includes both dining and lodging.

*Please note: The commuter and overnight prices do not include the American Red Cross classes. The class prices are separate.

The Finger Lakes Aquatics Camp consistently brings together staff with the highest skill level and expertise. You will have the opportunity to learn from the best.

Attendance

Attendance and full participation at every class session is required. The compact schedule does not allow for make-up sessions. There are no exceptions to our attendance policy. Plan to attend every class and be on time. Come ready to work hard, learn a lot and have fun. We look forward to an educational, exciting and fun camp.
