Camp director & Hobart Head Coach T.W. Johnson joined the Hobart staff in 2004, following three seasons as head coach at Limestone College. He brings a great deal of experience and aptitude to the lacrosse program. As a championship-winning coach, he is prepared to help you climb to the top of your game. Coach Johnson will be assisted by numerous D-I, D II, & D-III coaches and players.
Mark Williamson returned to Hobart for the 2009 season. He spent the two prior seasons as the top assistant coach at the University of Hartford.
The 2001 America East Rookie of the Year transferred to Hobart after two seasons as a starting attackman at Drexel University. As a senior with the Statesmen, Williamson recorded a Hobart Division I record 56 points on 35 goals and 21 assists. That year he earned a spot on the All-Patriot League first team, while leading the Statesmen to their 25th NCAA Tournament appearance. Williamson’s efforts also earned him Hobart’s Crook Family Award and the William H. Dobbin ’40 Memorial Award.
Chris Scanlon '05 returned to Hobart to serve as an assistant lacrosse coach during the summer of 2011. The former Statesman midfielder spent the past three years as a social studies teacher and lacrosse coach at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse.
A two-time team captain, Scanlon played 50 career games at Hobart, recording 46 career goals and 14 assists for 60 points, and collected 69 ground balls. The North-South All-Star earned Hobart’s Crook Family Award for superior value to the team and the Joseph N. Abraham Memorial Award for perseverance through injury as a senior. In 2004, Scanlon was selected All-Patriot League second team after logging 16 goals and four assists. A year earlier, he earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
A third round draft pick of the MLL’s Rochester Rattlers, Scanlon has spent five seasons in the MLL. He has also worked with the Central New York Roadhawks, an elite lacrosse club, and Students of the Game Lacrosse Camp.
Terry Muffley boasts more than three decades of coaching experience. He also serves as the defensive line coach for the Hobart football team.
With the lacrosse team, Muffley works primarily with the team’s faceoff specialists. He mentored the development of Dan Spinella '08, one of the top faceoff specialists in the nation. Spinella ranked as high as fourth in Division I in faceoff winning percentage (.618 in 2006), and finished his career third among DI Statesmen in faceoff wins (393) and fourth in winning percentage (.533).
A veteran high school coach, Muffley was a fixture on the Geneva High School sidelines for more than two decades, assisting the Panthers’ lacrosse team to three Section V Championships and the football team to two league titles, as well as coaching the volleyball team and assisting with the basketball team.
