LACROSSE AT WILLIAM SMITH COLLEGE

The William Smith Lacrosse program has been a perennial power for over four decades. The William Smith Lacrosse Camp is designed to help each camper realize her potential and to expose high school student-athletes to practicing and playing like a college player. Camp will be held at William Smith College on Boswell Field and in Bristol Field House at the Caird Center for Sports and Recreation, one of the finest college lacrosse facilities in the country. Our camp is an opportunity to receive personal attention by the William Smith lacrosse coaching staff, as well as to gain valuable experience while scrimmaging against some of the best players in the country.

CAMP PROGRAM

Camp enrollment will be limited in order to provide each camper with individualized coaching and maximize player development.  Training in the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game will be emphasized.  Campers will hone their skills as well as learn the importance of team first. Individual attention and player development will be taught through drills, team building and competitive scrimmaging.

CAMP DIRECTOR

William Smith College Head Coach Anne Phillips

In two seasons at William Smith College, Anne Phillips has guided the Herons to a pair of Liberty League Championships and back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances. The 2017 season was a record-setting one for William Smith. The Herons won a program record 20 games and reached the NCAA quarterfinal round for the first time since 2003. Phillips’ smothering zone defense ranked third in the nation, allowing a mere 4.82 goals per game. The unit was led by IWLCA National Goalkeeper of the Year Sarah Honan ’17 and All-Empire Region defenders Jackie Rogers ’17 and Laura Rollins ’19.

Phillips led Franklin & Marshall to an NCAA Championship and was the IWLCA Division III National Coach of the Year in 2007. After seven years as the head coach of Yale University, Phillips accepted the head coaching position at William Smith College in July 2015.

In 2014, the Bulldogs finished with their best record in six years, improving their win total over the previous season for the third straight year.

In 15 seasons as a head coach, Phillips has a 168-97 (.634) career record and has coached 20 IWLCA All-Americans.
