Today our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and face the challenge of change.
Martin Luther King Jr.
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
This year’s celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Week corresponds with the inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama on January 20. The Colleges have planned a number of events throughout the week so that students, faculty, staff and community members can celebrate diversity together, contextualize this historic event within our continuing work in inclusive excellence and social justice, and make a difference in the community through service work.
Our study will persist throughout the semester as we investigate Obama’s first 100 days in office through the President’s Forum Lecture Series. The Centennial Center will also be hosting symposia centered on concepts of leadership, particularly in times of crisis or change.
