Title IX Conversation Table

The first Wednesday of each month faculty and staff are invited to a lunchtime conversation with Susan Lee, Title IX Coordinator, Tremayne Robertson, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, and Katie Stiffler, Prevention and Education Coordinator. The event is an opportunity for faculty and staff to meet informally with Title IX staff, engage in an open discussion and learn about current office initiatives. Look for our table on the first Wednesday from noon - 1 p.m. in the Common Room, Scandling Campus Center. See you at noon on March 7.

STEP

Student Team for Education and Prevention (STEP)

The Student Team for Education and Prevention had its first meeting of the semester on Monday, February 5 at 8 p.m. in the Seneca Room. STEP provides students the opportunity to design and implement prevention programming. Previously, students from STEP have been active in The Red Flag Campaign and Sexual Assault Awareness Month events. New students are always welcome and there are many leadership opportunities available. Contact Katie Stiffler, Prevention and Education Coordinator, at stiffler@hws.edu for more information. The next STEP meeting is Monday, February 19th at 8 p.m. in the Seneca Room.

STEP

Available Programs for Student Organizations)

The Title IX Office offers a wide range of programs and initiatives that we can tailor to the unique needs of individual student organizations. Options include: workshops such as Intervene; documentary screenings including My Masculinity Helps and The Mask You Live In; discussions on various topics such as rape culture; and campaigns like No More. We also welcome original ideas for programming.

HEDS

HEDS Campus Climate Survey

The Title IX Office launched the fourth consecutive HEDS Sexual Assault Campus Climate Survey. On February 1 HWS students received an email with the survey link and information on the importance of their participation. Results from the survey are crucial in shaping our prevention and education programming. Additionally, there are prizes such as HWS spirit gear and a lunch with President Gregory J. Vincent '83 and a friend. The survey is open until March 15. The average 2017 HEDS survey response rate for small institutions was 23%; HWS achieved a 21% response rate. Please encourage students to take the survey so we can exceed last year's response rate.

Not Anymore

Thank you, HWS students! 97% of the student body completed the interpersonal violence prevention program, Not Anymore. The interactive and evidence-based program is designed to teach students the importance of bystander intervention and the role we play in preventing sexual misconduct. Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

One Love

One Love Escalation Workshops

Students from the HWS Club One Love are available to lead Escalation Workshops for student organizations, clubs, or groups of students. The One Love Foundation is dedicated to ending relationship violence by increasing awareness of warning signs of unhealthy relationships and by educating students about available resources.

Contact Amy Feda at amy.feda@hws.edu to schedule a workshop or for information on how to become a trained Escalation Workshop Facilitator.

Title IX Coordinating Committee (TCC)

We are excited to welcome new Student Representatives (seven William Smith students and two Hobart students) to the Title IX Coordinating Committee. The TCC brings together students, staff and community partners to develop and implement our comprehensive sexual misconduct prevention programming. We are still accepting applications for Hobart Student Representatives. The Committee meets for lunch on the third Tuesday of every month. Email Katie Stiffler at stiffler@hws.edu for more information.
