Pulteney Street Construction Outage Schedule

As part of the Pulteney Street construction project, the Colleges were notified by the City of Geneva that several Internet, network, and telephone cable runs that are crossing beneath Pulteney Street needed to be relocated. Moving these cable runs means that data and phone cables will need to be cut and reconnected creating intermittent outages of internet, network, phone and fire alarm services for large sections of the campus.

A team from B&G, Nardozzi Construction, and IT Services has been working to develop a plan to stage this work in a way that minimizes its impact on the campus, but residents of these buildings should plan for an extended outages of Internet, network and phone connectivity for anywhere from 4 – 8 hours and make alternative arrangements if necessary. Below is the current outage schedule.

Questions and answers are below the outage schedule.

How long should I expect my network and Internet connections to be down?

You should expect and plan for your network and Internet connections to be down for the majority of the time block identified above.

Why can't the phone outage estimate be more specific?

Because it is difficult to determine which specific phone(s) are connected to which copper wires, we have identified a longer window of impact for these services. With that being said, when the wire that delivers service to your phone is being moved, you should expect to only be without phone service for an hour or so. Our apologies for not being able to convey a more specific window
