Service Catalog: Post Office

Summary (what you get):

The HWS Post Office is a fully operational post office located in Scandling Center. All USPS Mail, incoming and outgoing, for the HWS community comes through the HWS Post Office. Mail is sorted and distributed to the proper recipients by noon each day. Campus deliveries of USPS mail are generally completed by 1:30 p.m. daily. The Post Office is responsible for the metering of 1st class mail, parcels, Express Mail etc. that is sent out by the various offices on campus which is then charged back to the departments. All bulk mailings are handled by Print Services located in the basement of the Scandling Center.


The Service Window is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and closed Sundays during the academic year. Mail pick-up by the Geneva Post Office is at 3:30 and 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11:45 a.m. on Saturdays. Summer hours are 9 to noon and 1-4 p.m., Monday through Friday, closed Saturday and Sunday, with mail pick-up at 3:45 p.m.

Services Included:

Stamp sales, Stamped Envelopes, Package Services including Priority Mail, Domestic and International, 1st Class Mail, Parcel Post, Media Mail, Express Mail, domestic and international, Certified Mail, Insured Mail, Return Receipt, Delivery Confirmation, Signature Confirmation. The Post Office also carries a variety of Priority and Express Mail Packaging.

What is not included:

The Post Office does not offer money orders, registered mail, or Global Express Guaranteed.

The Post Office is not responsible for the delivery of personal packages that may be delivered to the Scandling Center. Persons receiving such packages are responsible for picking them up.

Related Information:

Intra-campus mailings for students need to be arranged in numerical order, using their Scandling Center address, and bound.

Intra-campus mail addressed to employees of the Colleges needs to be clearly addressed and, if using an intra-campus envelope, be sure to cross out the last name to whom the envelope was last addressed.

All metered mail must be accompanied by the 17-digit account number to be charged back to the departments.
