The FLI coordinates public service to increase community engagement, raise awareness of local environmental issues, and to encourage a sense of place and accountability to our natural surroundings. By working with our regional partners, the FLI solicits and recruits volunteers for regional projects, such as invasive species hand-pulls, tree plantings, bird banding, beach cleanups, and trail restoration. The Institute also dedicates staff to participate in partner events and programs by presenting on topics relating to the Finger Lakes environment and the FLI.
