Research

I was awarded a Salisbury International Internship Stipend, which has allowed me to participate in a functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) study at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. I will be using some of the techniques I learned abroad when I begin my Honors Project in collaboration with a laboratory at the University of Rochester. I have also conducted neuroscience research through a fellowship program at the University of Pittsburgh.

Service

I am committed to giving back to the community and I try to take advantage of the many opportunities on campus like Days of Service, WinterFest and Relay for Life. Off-campus, I?ve volunteered in the Emergency Room at Strong Memorial Hospital and I participate in the Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans every year. I have also volunteered with the Geneva Community Lunch Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity and the Geneva Boys and Girls Club.

Leadership

I was elected to represent my class as a Student Trustee and I am a member of the Hai Timiai Senior Honor Society. I also serve as co-president of the Health Professions Club on campus and I am a Biology Teaching Fellow. Having served as a Resident Adviser for two years, I am now beginning a new position as Community Coordinator of Jackson Hall, which will involve planning and organizing programs for the first-year classes.

Campus Involvement

In addition to my leadership roles on campus, I am a member of the downhill skiing club as well as a few intramural sports. During my time at HWS, I have been a Writing Colleague, a member of the Literary Magazine and a member of Student Activists for Darfur. I?ve had the opportunity to shadow an alumnus in Neuropsychology at the University of Rochester, as well as a pediatrician with the Canandaigua Medical Group as part of my clinical internship with Finger Lakes Health.
