Major: Computer Science major
Minors: Music minor
As a computer science major, I'm especially interested in computer architecture. During the summer after my first year, I stayed on campus to work on computer architecture research with Prof. Marc Corliss. The research that I helped to conduct was published in a paper through an undergraduate conference.
Last year I spent the summer learning about hardware design during my internship with Analog Devices, Inc., a Boston-based company that is among the world's fastest-growing suppliers of advanced digital signal processing, radio frequency and micro-electromechanical systems integrated circuits. The internship was a great experience and I'm excited about interning with ADI again this summer!
I am a member of ORAP, the Outdoor Recreation & Adventure Program, at HWS. The club finds and schedules outdoor excursions and activities, including weekend and day trips. We also have a student-built climbing wall that is available to the HWS community. As a former leader of ORAP, I helped plan rafting, hiking and kayaking expeditions as well as rock climbing trips to the Adirondacks.
In addition to doing research on campus and leading ORAP trips, I am a member of the guitar ensemble. I started taking classical guitar lessons when I got to HWS and that helped me decide to minor in music. It's really more of a hobby ? but it's great that I get to learn and take classes while I'm here! I also led an alternative spring break trip to Pocahontas State Park in Virginia. We spent the week outdoors helping the park rangers and it was a great way for me to use my spring break to give back.
