Writer. Dancer. Agent of Change.
Majors: Media and Society and Public Policy
Minor: Writing Colleague Program
As a Media and Society and Public Policy double major, I'm interested in how policy affects the media. I received the Gilman International Scholarship, which has given me the opportunity to study abroad in South Africa and research how the media in South Africa influenced apartheid versus how the media in the U.S. influences race relations.
As an intern for the William Smith Centennial celebration, I coordinated a banner contest to welcome alums back to campus. I read that William Smith used to have banner contests so I thought bringing back the contest would be a great way to honor the history of the college.
Writing, to me, is way to bring about change. In addition to being a Writing Colleague, I wrote a piece for the HWS Public Affairs Journal about affirmative action. I like to think that it?s my way of helping to educate people about public policy.
During junior high, I attended a school for the performing arts. At HWS, I've been able to maintain my passion for performing as a member of Koshare and The Hip-notiQs, the Colleges' step and dance team. I love dancing- it keeps me sane!
