Friedman Helps Get Spielberg into Focus

"As someone who teaches a variety of approaches to the media, I am interested in how the mass production of images both reflects and refracts American culture, says Friedman, a member of the faculty since 2005.
Currently, his scholarly interests include American cinema from the Post World War II era to the Present, British cinema, American-Jewish Images in the Media, Medical Culture and British Media in the Thatcher Era. In addition to "Citizen Spielberg, Friedman's recent books include "Fires Were Started, "American Cinema of the 1970s and "Cultural Studies: Medicine and Media.
