Members of the Eldest Statesmen lacrosse team are featured in the August 2014 issue of Cigar Aficionado. The Eldest Statesmen club lacrosse team is made up mostly of former Hobart players, many of whom won multiple championships back in the '70s and ‘80s. A photo of members Allen Lovejoy '79, Fred Mosher '80 (captain of the 1980 championship team), John Bodnar '80, P. Scott Petosa '80, John Hayes '77, and Greg Couch '80 is included on page 176 of the magazine. The caption notes they are "...puffing away in Lake Placid, New York." The team had competed in the week-long Lake Placid Summit Lax Tournament, in which more than 200 teams compete in both scholastic and adult divisions.
Last year, the team was featured in Clublaxmag.com after the Eldest Statesmen defended their fourth consecutive Florida Lax Classic championship in the grand masters (50 and over) category. The article noted "they win almost every tournament for old guys in the country."
When not competing on the turf, Lovejoy is first vice president, investments with Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Smith; Mosher is an airline pilot with Delta Air Lines Inc.; Bodnar is director of Bodnar Financial Advisors Inc.; Petosa is director of marketing and advertising firm KAG Consulting; Hayes is president and COO of GLC Business Services Inc. and Couch is first vice president, branch manager and financial planning specialist with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
