The Hobart College golf team hosted an invitational at Clifton Springs Country Club on Saturday, April 12. St. John Fisher College's Devin Solar carded a two-over 73 to win top honors by three strokes over teammate Karl Deuble.
Solar recorded birdies on No. 2 and No. 8 to play the front nine in an even 36.
Senior Dillon Sass, Hobart's season scoring leader, was one of three Statesmen to finished tied for seventh place in the 22-golfer field. His round of 80, included birdies on 12 and 14. Junior Billy Abrams and first-year Harry Hagen also turned in rounds of 80 for Hobart. The next three golfers in the standings, Statesmen senior Ben Ayres, junior Eric Mills, and first-year Alexander Grant, were tied for 10th after carding 81s.
This was the first home event for the Hobart golf team since co-hosting the Hobart-Naz Shooting in September 2008.
The Statesmen will be back on the links on April 18 and April 19 when they compete in the Palamountain Invitational in Saratoga Springs.
