HWS Holiday Gift Project a Success

Posted on Wednesday, December 18, 2013

This holiday season, the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning (CCESL) at HWS conducted its annual Holiday Gift Project. This year, the HWS community collected and distributed more than $6,500 worth of gifts and donations. CCESL delivered gift bags for 91 children to the Geneva Head Start Program and Agri-Business Child Development, as well as donated food and cooking supplies on behalf of the HWS community to the Community Lunch Program and Center of Concern.

Each holiday season, CCESL assists Geneva families who are in need of additional support to celebrate the holidays.

"We want to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you who shopped for and donated to the Holiday Gift Project. We are grateful to be part of such a giving and service-oriented community," says Jeremy Wattles, Assistant Director of CCESL.

Karissa Schutt, the education and disability coordinator at Geneva Head Start says, "I was full of surprise, appreciation and gratitude for the generous donations for our children and families we serve. I know that this will make a huge difference to so many families' lives. Thank you!"
