The William Smith cross country team finished in second place at the Hobart Invitational at Seneca Lake State Park this afternoon. Two Herons finished in the top five.
Junior Avery Share led William Smith across the finish line for the fourth race in a row. She took second out of 68 runners, completing the 6-kilometer course in 25:38.5. Close behind her was classmate Ellen Grenen. She claimed fourth place in 25:48.0. First-year Katie Pinkes was the next Heron to cross the finish in 26:48.9 for 11th place. Senior Meghan Gaucher was right behind her, taking 12th place in 26:56.3. First-year Sara Keller rounded out the top five William Smith runners. She logged a time of 27:26.2 to finish in 18th place.
Morrisville's Billie Jo Hinds took home the individual title with a time of 24:49.5. SUNY-ESF claimed the team title with 40 points. William Smith recorded a total of 47 points and Morrisville took third with 78 team points.
The Herons will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they compete in the Roberst Wesleyan Invitational in Chili, N.Y.
