The William Smith College lacrosse team was tabbed a 2013 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Squad. In addition, defenders Liz Seidel '13 and senior Micailah Adee were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
The IWLCA honored 86 schools, each with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, as 2013 Academic Squads. In addition, the IWLCA recognized 382 student-athletes from 67 institutions on the 2013 Academic Honor Roll. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and achieved at least junior status academically.
Seidel, who graduated in May with an international relations and political science major, garnered a spot on the honor roll for the second year in a row. A starter in all 15 games she played in last season, Seidel scored a goal, picked up 23 ground balls, caused 11 turnovers and won four draws. A three-time Liberty League All-Academic honoree, she played in 53 career games and notched five goals, two assists, 82 ground balls, 26 draws and 41 caused turnovers.
A starter in all 17 games last year, Adee scooped up five ground balls and won four draws. She also added a caused turnover. The international relations major earned a spot on the Liberty League All-Academic team in each of the past two seasons. Adee has played in 48 career games and has posted a goal, 40 ground balls, 10 draws and eight caused turnovers going into her senior season.
The Herons finished 2013 with a 10-7 overall record and a 7-2 mark in Liberty League play. William Smith earned a berth in the Liberty League tournament for the second year in a row.
