Posted on Friday, July 26, 2013

The Cleveland-based chamber ensemble, Aurora Trio, will offer a concert in the Geneva Room of the Warren Hunting Smith Library at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2. The Aurora Trio features three instructors at the Aurora School of Music and is comprised of Geneva native Andrea Belding on violin, Jennifer Hublin on clarinet and Yuka Nakayama on piano.

Belding, daughter of HWS Professor of Mathematics David Belding, first soloed with the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra as winner of the 2000 Young Artist Concerto Competition.  She continued her violin studies, earning a bachelor of music degree in violin performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she was named winner of the 2003 Dr. Jerome Gross Award in Violin. She was later appointed concertmaster of the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra where she served for two years. Currently, Belding teaches violin and viola at the Fairmount Center for the Arts and the Aurora School of Music.

Hublin began her clarinet studies at age 10. She went on to receive a bachelor of fine arts degree in clarinet performance from Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied with Tommy Thompson of the Pittsburgh Symphony and was a two-time recipient of the Silbermann Clarinet Award. Hublin later received a master's degree from Northwestern University and is currently an instructor at the Aurora School of Music.

Nakayama, who has performed at a number of shows both in the U.S. and Japan, holds a bachelor and master of music from Tokyo Gakugei University, and earned an artist diploma in piano performance and a doctorate in piano performance from Ball State University. Along with instructing at the Aurora School of Music, she instructs ear-training and is a music theory instructor at Ball State University.

The concert is open to the public and is free of charge.
